Mr. Shiu graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor’s degree in Law in 1993 and he is qualified to practice as a Solicitor in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.  Mr. Shiu has been practicing corporate and commercial law in Hong Kong for a number of years.  Mr. Shiu is a Notary Public and a China-Appointed Attesting Officer in Hong Kong.  Mr. Shiu has also been appointed as a Civil Celebant of Marriages by the Registrar of Marriages under the Marriage Ordinance.  Mr. Shiu is a Solicitor on the Legal Aid Panel and performs Duty Lawyer Service from time to time (including assignments as lawyer representing torture claimants under the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment).

 

In the early 2000s, Mr. Shiu participated in the pre-listing reorganization of companies and their subsequent listing on the Growth Enterprise Market and the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.  Mr. Shiu has been advising companies on a variety of corporate finance projects, merger and acquisition transactions and regulatory compliance matters.  Mr. Shiu joined Robert Lee Law Offices in 2006 and he is primarily responsible for advising corporate clients of the firm on various commercial transactions.

 

Mr. Shiu was a part-time lecturer/tutor of Australian Corporation Laws at the Open University of Hong Kong during the period from 1997 to Mid-1999, and a part-time lecturer of Business Communication English at the City University of Hong Kong (1996 to January 2000).

 

Apart from his legal practice, Mr. Shiu loves art and is fond of drawing comic strips.  In this respect, Mr. Shiu was a cartoonist for Ta Kung Pao, Ching Pao and Hong Kong Financial News in the 1980’s.  Mr. Shiu also published his own comic books sometime in 1985.
