
Munenori Kaku has been involved with corporate and M&A, financial regulations, and cross-border transactions as an in-house counsel for multi-national companies and his practice at international law firm in his legal career of over 25 years. Mr. Kaku has been practicing as an international lawyer in Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong throughout his career.
Mr. Kaku graduated from Keio University with Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Law in 2001, as well as from Washington University in St Louis School of Law, with LL.M and Juris Doctorate in 2008. He is qualified to practice as a Solicitor in Hong Kong (2016) and Attorney at Law in New York (2009).
Mr. Kaku has represented clients in various matters including cross border share purchase transactions, commercial transactions and securities (SFC) regulatory compliance advice. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kaku served as a Consultant and Senior Of-Counsel at several major HK firms. He has also worked at several leading Japanese securities brokerage and investment banks in Hong Kong, serving as Head of Legal and Company Secretary. Prior to working in Hong Kong, Mr. Kaku was an associate lawyer at a boutique law firm in New York City and an in-house counsel at European multi-national companies in Tokyo.
Mr. Kaku has been the Guest Lecturer at the Global Information and Governance Academic Program of Keio University (Faculty of Policy Management/Faculty of Environment and Information Studies) teaching English Legal Writing to international students since 2021.
Mr. Kaku is married with 2 children. Mr. Kaku is fluent in English and is a native Japanese speaker.
